Johns Marine Transport was established in 1988 by Robert and Stan Johns at Goolwa, a historic river town on the lower Murray River and Lower Lakes region in South Australia. 

 

During the 1980’s Goolwa became a large boat manufacturing centre with companies like Alufarm Marine, manufacturers of plate aluminium boats from 5m trailer boats to 30m commercial, as well as Nolex Yachts Australia, builders of Nolex 25 and 30 trailer sailors and Challenger Keel Yachts. Goolwa also experienced a boom period in holiday homes, resulting in new marina developments and become Adelaide’s Holiday Boating Playground.

 

Robert and Stan, with over 15 years transport experience, saw the need and opportunity to establish a specialised boat transport business. Being boatties ourselves, Robert having been a committee member, then 6 years vice commodore and then 4 years as commodore of the Goolwa Aquatic Club. We understood the concern some boat owners must have had at the thought of Road Transport of their pride and joy.

 

With our continual development of specialised equipment and our specific and constant driver training in the loading, handling and securing of all types of boats, combined with our drivers’ dedication and enthusiasm guarantees the best transport service available.
